Good morning everyone and welcome to District 71’s Service Manual Study. My name is ________, I am an Alcoholic and__________________ (service position).
For today’s meeting ______, (service position), is our co-host helping me with meeting logistics. We ask that you treat this online meeting as you would an in-person meeting and refrain from activities that would be distracting to others. To minimize background noise, we will mute all participants. Please un-mute yourself when you are called upon to read or share. Of course, you have the ability to un-mute yourself at any time if the need arises.
Let’s open the meeting with a moment of silence for the still suffering alcoholic followed by the Serenity Prayer.
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
At this meeting, in the interest of time, we will read the short versions of the 12 Steps and the Traditions. A.A.’s Preamble: by host or ask someone to read. I have asked________ to read the 12 Steps. I have asked________ to read the Traditions.
Host’s option… let’s go around the “squares” and introduce ourselves. Please include a service position if you hold or have ever held one. Or, before participants shares, ask them to state their service position if they have or ever held one.
At our first meeting on 8/15/20 we held a group conscience to approve this Service Manual Study format and guidelines with those present.
The following was unanimously approved:
That this be an open meeting.
That this meeting does not exceed 1 (one) hour.
That we meet twice monthly, the 2nd and 4th Saturday’s of the month @ 10:30AM. (the 2nd Saturday will immediately follow D71 GSR Meeting)
That the meeting host has some working knowledge of the service manual and is prepared to read and share thus setting the tone for a meaningful discussion as he/she calls on participants to share.
If a large number of participants are present, the host will stop calling on participants 10 minutes early and open the meeting for others to share by raising a hand.
This is an open meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. Open meetings are available to anyone interested in Alcoholics Anonymous’ program of recovery from alcoholism. Non-alcoholics may attend open meetings as observers.
I will open this meeting by reading and sharing and then will call on others to share. Please limit your sharing to 2 to 3 minutes.
