District 71 Meeting Minutes
Saturday March 12, 2022 9:30 EST
Meeting called to order at 9:35 am
Web Administrator: Valerie V.
Valerie has been updating the website. The meetings are listed now in different colors to make it easier to determine which are zoom and which are in person.
The Hendersonville Group will be changing the 8:00 evening meetings to 7:00 beginning April 1. The Wednesday speaker meeting will be moved to 7:30, as there is a 6:00 beginners meeting just before it.
There were 515 visits to the website from February 10 to March 11.
Valerie has proposed adding Google Workspace as a way to have anonymous e mail addresses, video meetings, calendars and the ability to have documents like the treasurer's report in one place. It has a cost of $72.00 per year, but would eliminate mail chimp and eventually zoom. (we have just paid for a year of zoom)
DCM: Liz G.
Liz has returned from the committee meeting in Durham with lots to cover. Agenda items were discussed and approved to be voted on at the June 17-19 Assembly. There is a list that can be accessed on the website.
*The $6000.00 surplus that we have been submitting ideas on how to be used has come up with a plan to purchase a fireproof and waterproof safe to house the AA archives. No information so far as to where this safe would live.
*Agenda item to do away with the translator position which has been vacant for some time.
*Updating wheelchair accessibility listing on meeting information .
*Proposed new additional version of the Big Book written at a 5th grade level
* The pre-conference will be held April 2 at Oakley United Methodist Church. 607 Fairview Rd. Asheville NC from 11:30-3:30. Lunch will be provided from Firehouse Subs. Fliers with more details are on the District 71 website. There is a Unity Fund to help GSR’s to the meeting.*proposal for a “post conference” after the assembly to discuss how things went.
* discussion on the impact of the preamble changes on our fellowship
