District 71 Treatment Committee Report
This has been another busy month for Stephanie and me. We continued to attend various groups in the in the district. We have maintained contact with John J. and John B. in Rutherford County and have 2 new volunteers besides these gentlemen. There is much enthusiasm for Bridging the Gap as we continue to speak at meetings encouraging AA members to volunteer for this important 12 Step service. The liaison volunteers are making sure that the commitments made to the Pardee Detox unit are being honored. The staff is pleased with their presence on the unit. We were guests at the Hendersonville Men’s Group. We were greeted with enthusiasm and much interest was voiced by the members. We answered their questions and had several members sign up. The Fellowship Group donated several Big Books to the unit. Another thing that we are very excited about is the Web Page set up by Stephanie. This past Monday I represented the Fellowship Group at Pardee Detox and explained the program to the patients at the meeting. They showed an interest and asked several pertinent questions.
Tuesday we met with Marcus and Lisa two of the discharge planners for Transylvania Hospital who were very interested as Stephanie explained the program. She will be following up with them with more information and packets. They were very anxious to get started as the hospital usually see about 10 patients per month for detoxing.
Our plan going forward is to attend the Sobriety and Beyond Group in Forest City next Thursday. Our goal is to establish a solid volunteer list in Rutherford County through attendance at meetings. We will continue to broaden our volunteer base thru ought the district. We are a planning Zoom Meeting for Bridging the Gap volunteers. TBA.
